It is almost impossible
these days to spend any kind of time on the
internet without coming across some sort of
advertisement for this so-called acai berry
diet.
So I ask; can a
super-antioxidant, nutrient rich, exotic berry
from deep within the Amazon rainforest help you
lose weight?
Like most
men and women that read magazines, spend
time on the internet, watch tv and shop at
the grocery store; I am sure that you have
come across the word 'acai'.
At the point of writing this
article, I have personally seen acai beer,
wine, shampoo, health drinks, snack bars, ice
cream, powders and pills.
Yes, it is safe to say that this product is
HOT! But why?
First, let me answer my
original question; Will the acai berry diet
help you lose weight? YES and
NO
Please don't hate
me because that is the truth and I will
certainly explain why in detail. You will know
if this berry is the fat burning wonder many
claim it is and you will know what to expect if
you incorporate the acai berry into your
life.

Yes it works
and No it does

The "No" part of my answer
is easy to explain. If your weight loss diet
program consists of only taking some
acai berry pill or any other product with
high levels of antioxidants and waiting for the
fat/weight to disappear, your chances of
successfully losing and keeping the weight off
is slim to none. It is going to take a lot more
than some miracle pill my friends.
Now, the focus of the
remainder of this article will be the "Yes"
part of my answer. I have personally spent
hours researching this little berry and what,
if any, effects it can have when incorporated
into a diet and weight loss program. I am not a
doctor nor am I a scientist so when I say
research, I am referring to written work by
people like scientists, testimonials by users
of this berry and results from personal
use.
Nutritional Powerhouse
Long story short; the acai
berry is an incredibly complex fruit with
amazing qualities and nutritional properties
and it will probably be years before we know
the true extent of this berries properties. As
with any diet and fitness program, nutrition is
a key element and the acai berry does not fail
in that department.
Let's start by taking a
closer look at the acai berry itself and seeing
what makes it so special. It is found in only
one place on this planet and that is deep
within the rain forest of the Amazon jungle. It
grows high above the ground on certain palm
trees.
Multiple studies have shown
that this berry contains incredible amounts of
nutrition and antioxidant levels not found in
any other fruit. The pulp and skin are packed
with amino acids, trace minerals and essential
fatty acids. At the cellular level, the high
levels of antioxidants in this berry act as a
defense mechanism against free-radicals.
Superfood
Free radicals are all the
nasty toxins and pollutants we take in through
the air we breath, the foods we eat and the
liquids we drink. The higher the level of free
radicals you have in your system, the more
prone you are to disease and sickness.
Dr. Nicholas Perricone has
the acai berry listed as one of his top 10
super foods in his book, The Perricone Promise.
He also has it listed on Oprah Winfrey's
website. Some websites are promoting the acai
berry diet as Oprah’s new diet plan however
this is a lie and is basically a marketing tool
used to attract more attention to acai berry
supplements and is not related to any
particular diet plan.
Calorie Shifting
One
individual fruit or vegetable is not the
magic answer to any diet or weight loss
plan. There are some foods like the acai
that are a great addition and provide
incredible benefits but sustainable and
healthy weight loss is going to come from
all the food that is in your diet. Taking
the time to understand which ones are more
effective than others at burning fat will
make all the difference. Techniques like
calorie shifting
harness the individual properties of
specific foods and nutrients and make them
work for you and your metabolism.
